Cassandra earned a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Manitoba, an MES in Arctic Ecology from York University, and a doctorate at the University in Manitoba. Her doctoral thesis focused on the diet of ringed seals in Hudson Bay, and her master’s research project was a joint effort with Polar Bears International looking at polar bear body condition. She is currently finishing her doctoral thesis on the ringed seal diet in Hudson Bay at the University of Manitoba. Cassandra has diverse Arctic field ecology experiences across the Canadian Arctic and in Svalbard studying everything from the sea ice up to, and including, polar bears. Cassandra is very passionate about science education and is currently an instructor at the University of Manitoba where she teaches introductory biology to 1,200 students each term. She often uses experiences from Churchill and polar bear biology as case studies for her students.
